The first party in 1998 turned out to be sheer success. From my point of view. I have a few minor complaints, but those will probably only be valid considering that I have been to quite a few parties in the past which means that I can compare to them. Through the years I've been to a handful of parties which have been *absolutely perfect*, and to accomplish that, you need more luck than skill. Besides, "beauty lies in the eye of the beholder".

My evening started out at "Den Grå Hal" and Outpost/Rotundum's ambient event. I never got to go to "Technostrojka" which was an exhibition held during the Friday with organizers and people involved somehow in the technoscene. I heard it was kind of cool, but saved my strength and energy for the Saturday instead.

I enjoyed the ambient event very much. Big projection screens displaying trippy patterns, huge loudspeakers with an enormous volume. Clothes-stands, bar, chaishop...the whole works - except for some heat. The whole place was absolutely freeeeeezing. Brrrrr...

When Out Of Phase came on, people finally started to dance, but it only lasted for some 45 minutes. When they were done, we left. We had another party to attend. =:)

After dinner and some wine at Sacha's (thanks Sacha!) we headed for Amager Bio. Outside, we found what I'd definitely define as "queue". Oh man, it was awful! Luckily, we did get in pretty quick thanks to a guard but I've heard of people who spent 4 hours in that queue even though they had tickets.

Up playing when we got in was Omid Sheriff. Quite catchy tunes, but I had better things to do than to stand around and listen to them. As time passed, the place slowly got more and more crowded. Jay played a dj-set I heard almost nothing of, Orion did a great live-set which had the audience going nuts, Dino played our soxx off but had a minor problem with the sound (and mind!). I have to say though, that I've seen Dino twice before, and both other times he did better than this.

Finally, it was time for the (my) highlight of the night: Synchro. He's got an album release planned for February, and I for one will definitely get a copy! He played f e my two favorites, Kitchen Sync and Science Friction, and also some others. The set was great, people enjoyed it to the full and the party was happening! =:)

Last man out was Amon, with assistance from Jean Borelli. It was quite full on, and honestly I had my hands full doing other things than dancing but from what I heard, it sounded more than ok.

To summarize the night, it was a good party. Nice people, nice vibe and nice music. A big minus for how the queue was organized, some people are probably still suffering from cold-damages. Another minus for placing the chill out across the yard. Yes, I know that it's the only logical place at Amager Bio but I rather be without a chill out than to have to go through a queue of that caliber to get there. Plus: the sound (except for that "accident" during Dino's set), the decorations by NOS and Bird (both Swedish!), the music (almost brilliant tunes all night long) and my "incident" with the cutest guy alive. He knows who he is. =:)
