revival nightnovember 9 1996 @ sputnik, copenhagen - denmarkdj:s zen (nl) · david (swe) · nico (dk) ______________________________________________ |
The venue: One big dance floor, both walls and floor are painted black which gives the room the right underground and mysterious feeling. Low ceiling and lots of black pillars placed all over and for once we really got space to dance, but without it being empty. The lasers were absolutely great. The chill out: Wow, this was my favorite spot... They'd hung big nets with leaves up in the ceiling, it almost felt like we were in the woods. Lit candles and nice soft carpets to lie on, and the smart bar was decorated with even more lit candles and big baskets of fruits. First a guy named Richard played and after that Matt (Coady) showed up...he was ACE. I've honestly never heard better music in a chill out, and perhaps it was a bit too fast - everybody danced! The beats and the tunes were so fab, you just couldn't stay seated... If you're having a party, hire this guy! He was very nervous and told me this was his first party. He didn't need to worry though - we all loved his music!!! The dj:s: Zen opened up, it started quite slow but built up. We heard some really old but good tunes and then David took over. He definitely got us started, and threw in some really vibrating oldies. Nico was the last man out, brilliant tunes heard in earlier Rotundum-events in really made my head spin. They played again,in the same order, and it was a really smart move to take 2 turns each instead of one long gig each. They gave the people what we wanted, we danced and danced and danced some more...and in between we smiled and shared water and I danced around, handing out from the big bag of lollipops that I brought. (now that was an appreciated gesture!) I also tried to share my four bananas in between the crowd. The result: This was a brilliant party! Atmosphere, happiness, not too crowded but still very steamy and these old tunes bringing back sweet memories! (when Man With No Name's Evolution came on I nearly had a cardial attack, not to mention how I felt when Two Full Moons And A Trout by Union Jack was played) I came there with an intention to chill most of the night as I was exhausted, but no one with ears could stay seated too long here. On our way back to the boats in the morning, we stopped by at the Christiania-party where Serge from Total Eclipse was playing. I guess I was more dead than alive at that point, but if I'd had the energy I would have danced, the music was really good. I did feel sorry for him, though, this was one single room with the chill out built in on one side of the floor (no deco, no chillout-dj, just benches to sit on) and the music was way too good for this tiny place. sunshine & happiness ~chrissie ~ |
